| The Department of Industries and Commerce acts as a catalyst for the overall development of the Industrial sector through effective discharge of developmental and regulatory roles. With a view to promoting investment and trade, the department formulates and implements the policies of the state with respect to Industrial Development. |

| Government of India has formulated the MSMED Act, 2006 and has come in to effect from 2nd October 2006. This is an Act to provide for facilitating the promotion and development and enhancing the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises. |

| An application was developed that enable entrepreneurs to submit the applications online, track the application and receive the certificate for both new MSM enterprise and existing MSM enterprise. The new system enabled issue of certificate and acknowledgement to the entrepreneur that will be used for further course of action to set the up an enterprise and thereby reducing the paper work considerably. |

| The Department of Industries and Commerce will also assist the entrepreneurs to get IEM/ IL for Large and Mega projects. |

| The Department will also provide assistance and develop clusters and Custer development by dovetailing the schemes of government of India. |
